INSTRUCTIONS: The South Carolina New and Beginning Farmer Program (SCNBFP) application consists of a number of questions designed to assess your readiness and sincere interest in the program.
Prior to completing and submitting your application, be sure to read the PROGRAM OUTLINE, including eligibility and selection criteria, participation/attendance policy, and participant costs. Please be aware that detailed agendas and regional session schedules are not yet available; program details will be made available before the start of the program. Anyone who wishes to rescind their application before the program begins may do so without penalty so long as this request is made in writing and is acknowledged by the Program Director.
JOINT APPLICANTS: Please note in the appropriate place the name of your partner/joint applicant. Joint applicants must be from the same farm enterprise, and both parties must submit separate applications if they do not share a street (physical /residential) address.
FORM SUBMISSION: You must complete the application online. It is not necessary to complete the application in one sitting – see instructions for saving your work. If you have problems, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
APPLICATION QUESTIONS: Some questions are designed to help us best understand your needs and continue to build a quality program. Other questions will help us choose the best qualified applicants for the program. Please answer all questions to the best of your ability. For multiple choice questions, if the perfect choice is not offered, choose the answer that comes closest to your situation. Answer ‘essay’ questions briefly, but thoughtfully. If the question does not apply to your situation, you should answer “not applicable,” or even “I don’t know” or “I am not sure.” Some of the questions will be especially important in helping us select program participants. We have marked these with “**” in order to give you opportunity to answer carefully and completely.
REVIEW: Applications will be reviewed by the SCNBFP senior staff and selected members of the program advisory committee. The number of applicants accepted will be limited. While every effort will be made to accept as many qualified applicants as possible, we encourage you to complete the application thoughtfully and carefully in order to secure top priority. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Acceptance letters and a request for confirmation of participation will be emailed in early September, prior to the start of the program.
By completing this application, you certify that you have read and understand the PROGRAM OUTLINE and if selected, will fully participate in the SC New and Beginning Farmer Program.
